New To The Dining Scene
Paradise Café: A Gathering Place-The Pacific Rim décor of this intimate dining space is relaxed and colorful. Grass mats and table coverings of imported Hawaiian fabric create the comfortable, playful mood of this tropical paradise. Chefs Miguel and Debbie Gradillas use only the freshest ingredients in the preparation of their eclectic array of island fare with a Southwestern flair. A favorite of locals is the Blue Hawaiian Salad featuring seared ahi tuna, grilled pineapple spears and sushi rice atop a bed of mixed greens. The Island Wrap mingles the sweet flavor of mango pineapple salsa with coconut and shrimp. Half pound, hand-made Big Kahuna Burgers are made for the hungry. Granite Creek Café-Located on the banks of historic Granite Creek, this cozy café boasts some great soups and the best chicken and andouille gumbo you'll ever eat! This creative, fuss-free cuisine offers imaginative Cajun dishes with a dash of Mediterranean flair. When the weather is right, the creekside patio is delightful for open-air dining. Iron Springs Café-This incredible eatery doesn't need a sign. It's a perennial favorite of locals. Housed in the fire-engine red historic Hillside Depot building, Chef Tudie's cuisine is bold and flavorful. Specializing in creative Southwestern and Cajun dishes, the muffaletta sandwich and Tudie's chicken fried tuna with jalapeno cream gravy, are favorites. Look for black-n-bleau steak, crab cakes and daily specials including fresh fish, chops or pasta. Belvedere's Bistro-Step out of the present into a traditional turn of the century French Bistro complete with classic French jazz, Guy Buffet Prints and retro linens. Chef Barry Barbe and his wife Lori ingeniously combine classic ingredients of country French and Creole cuisine. Traditional Favorites The Rose-Housed in a gracefully restored turn-of-the-century Victorian, owners Linda Rose and Chuck Kaufman offer diners an intimate setting for special evenings on the town. Chefs Linda Rose and Suzanne Perrotto create masterpieces of continental cuisine. Intensity of flavor, fresh taste and the timing of every dish are extremely important. Prescott Resort: Thumb Butte Dining Room Perched on a ridge high above the town, the Thumb Butte Room boasts spectacular views of Prescott's forests, sunsets and evening skies. Chef Joel Sugihara draws on his Hawaiian roots to create specialties of the house, including Tropical Coconut Shrimp, Salmon Salad with a delicate crust of oriental spices, and Basa, a delicate fillet from the Orient served with capers, lemon and white wine. Hassayampa Inn: The Peacock Dining Room-75 years of hospitality, impeccable taste and elegance characterize the dining experience in this historic hotel. Chef Farley's western experience is the source for his lively, creative specials. Specialties of the house include lemon soufflé pancakes and eggs sardou-poached eggs, accompanied by hollandaise sauce and artichokes over spinach. Favorites among Prescottonians for great steaks and pub food are Murphys, the Palace, the Gurley Street Grill and the Prescott Brewing Company. Off the Beaten Path-For a relaxed family run atmosphere check out the Plaza Café, Roman's Italian Restaurant or the Thai Café. The Dinner Bell is a savory breakfast spot. If you want to hangout with locals for a quick cup of java, stop by Prescott Coffee Roasters on West Gurley Street, the St. Michael Hotel on the square, or one of three Starbucks locations.
